Deglet Nour means “date of light”, a name inspired by its translucent, golden flesh. Tunisia is home to more than half of the world's Deglet Nour palms, making it the reference origin for this variety.
The oases of southern Tunisia
Deglet Nour grows in the oases of southern Tunisia, around Douz, Kebili and Tozeur. The combination of desert heat, dry air and oasis water produces dates with a delicate, honey-like sweetness and a soft, semi-dry texture.
Sudattes was founded in 2017 in Kebili, at the heart of this region, and works closely with local farmers to source dates directly from the oases.
The harvest season
The Deglet Nour harvest runs from October to December. Bunches are protected on the palm as they ripen, then harvested, sorted and brought to our facilities, where they are graded, processed and packed for export.
Made for global markets
- Versatile: Deglet Nour is enjoyed as it is, and used in bakery, confectionery and food manufacturing.
- Long shelf life: its semi-dry texture makes it well suited to export; our whole dates keep up to 24 months when stored chilled.
- Certified supply: our facilities are IFS and BRCGS certified, with organic, Halal and Kosher options.
